ESPN.com is claiming a consulting firm’s report concerning the sex-abuse scandal could be released to the public “as early as next week”. The ESPN.com article noted the report, which was prepared by the Freeh Group International Solutions (which is the consulting firm led by former FBI director Louis J. Freeh), after an exhaustive eight-month investigation, will offer “new information” about how then-head football coach Joe Paterno and Pennsylvania State University senior administrators “responded to an allegation” that former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky “had sexually abused a boy inside the football team’s showers”. The article stated the report “is expected to be tough on Paterno [and] is expected to shed new light on the administrators’ handling of the Sandusky allegations, and also raise questions about Paterno’s leadership of Penn State’s vaunted football program, according to several people with knowledge of the inquiry’s scope.”
Sandusky was convicted in June 2012 of 45 counts of sexually abusing 10 boys. The scandal led to the termination of Penn State University president Graham Spanier and the departure of head football coach Joe Paterno. Further, the state also charged Penn State’s then-director of athletics and a then-vice-president for finance and business with perjury and failing to report what they knew about the allegations.
